Only in Christ can I ever truly find lasting freedom and healing! -Dave Crandall
The FIVE:
A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “Self Medicate”
in 5 points or less.
- As humans, our belief is that pain is bad, pain must be avoided. Obstacles are roadblocks to be avoided not challenges to be conquered. So we self-medicate. We’re looking to those things in the hopes that they will ‘save us’, make us feel better, freer, happier, etc… But God has a completely different path of freedom for us.
- It’s not so much about the ‘what it is’ as it is about ‘how/why’ you’re using it.
- When you become an addict you have become a slave. Whatever that THING is, it is your master, because it has control over you.
- It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. (Galatians 5:1 NIV)
- You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. (1 Corinthians 6:12 NLT)
