"My favorite thing about volunteering is the opportunity to pray for needs & also to meet people before & between services."
At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.
Sheilagh Nowacki and her husband Dean, were invited to Friendship 9 1/2 years ago, and it didn’t take long for them to know that this is where the Lord wanted to use them to encourage others.

What do you do for a living/career?
I’m a retired Registered Nurse.
What would be your dream vacation?
Italy, to see where my family is from. Poland, to see where Dean’s family is from. And especially Israel, where my heart is.
What is your favorite scripture?
There are so many, but the one I keep going back to is 2 Corinthians 1:3,4. “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our tribulation that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort which we ourselves are comforted of God.”
Who inspires you the most?
Living person? I would have to say my husband, Dean. He loves the Lord & he loves me with a patience and kindness that no one else could. He has such a servant’s heart & I know I could never say enough about him. He really is one of a kind & I’m so thankful that he is mine. The enemy tried his best to destroy our marriage, but our God is an awesome God & won the victory!
Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.
Corrie tenBoom. She is such an example of love and compassion for the hurting and for those who do the hurting. I would love to learn from her.
What has been your favorite Friendship series?
After all these years it is too hard to choose. I guess I would have to say it is the current series we are going through at the time.
Can you speak more than one language?
No, but I would like to learn Spanish and ASL.
Where were you born?
Greenville, South Carolina
What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?
It’s a time to meet together with others to worship the Lord & learn from His Word. Difficult to pick out any one part other than praying and seeing answers to prayer.
What are you guilty pleasure foods?
Chocolate Ice Cream. Yum!
What is your favorite day of the week?
Sunday. I don’t have dialysis. Dean doesn’t have work. It’s a relaxing day to worship with the others. rest in the afternoon, and meet with Small Group in the evening.
