The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s message “Unnecessary Roughness” in 5 points or less.

  1. Four ways to control your anger: slow it down, think it through, talk it out, and in Jesus’ name, let it go!
  2. Jesus doesn’t just let it go – He makes you new from the inside out.
  3. Short-sighted decisions can lead to long-lasting consequences.
  4. Anger is not looking for the situation to be resolved, it’s looking to win.
  5. Your willingness to let it go and forgive says more about you than you could possibly say in your anger.

What We Learned:

One brother was so lost to sin he almost died, but made the choice to follow Jesus again. But his brother got so mad that their father was celebrating, he sinned and made a bad choice to lose control and yell at his dad! Our Big Idea yesterday was Control Your Anger—Respond Right! Anger doesn’t show others the best part of God, love. This week kids were challenged to Control Your Anger—Respond Right!

In the car:

Tell your kids of a time when you didn’t respond right like the brother in our lesson. What was your consequence for not controlling your anger with your parents? And how did you make it right after you did it?

At bedtime:

Pray with your kids thanking God for giving us everything we need to control our anger! Pray that as a family you will all encourage each other to control your anger and respond right, especially to each other!
