If Jesus is not The Way, then He cannot be A Way. #fcQuestions

How can Jesus be the only way to God?

As a culture we like our options. We like to be able to substitute at restaurants, mix and match sale items, and nowadays if you don’t like a particular body part you can get it swapped out for another! So, naturally we want to carry that over to our faith. We like to pull from this religion, steal from this book, and borrow from this church, and make up something that works for us. So when people who follow the Bible say that, “Jesus is the only way to God”, we bristle at that. It makes us feel uncomfortable, it makes us feel like we are being backed into a corner of some kind and being forced to make a decision. Yesterday, Dave answered four nagging questions to help answer the big question, “how can Jesus be the only way to God?”

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message,
“How can Jesus be the only way to God?”
in 5 points or less.

  1. Instead of Jesus rejecting humanity because of our rejection of him, Jesus invites us to believe in him if we want our search for God satisfied.
  2. Jesus doesn’t claim to point to the truth, or share a part of the truth, he claimed to be THE TRUTH.
  3. Some “truths” are determined by society, and others are determined by the physical nature of the world.
  4. Jesus Christ is unique among all religious leaders of history, in that He doesn’t claim to have a revelation from God, but claims to be, the definitive revelation of God.
  5. The question is, are the claims of Jesus true? If they are true, then how can we reject his offer of forgiveness, freedom, and a restored relationship with God?

What We Learned:

Gibeon started out against his enemies with 32,000 men. But God only let him fight the battle with 300! The enemy was described as a swarm of locusts, and their camels like grains of sand on the seashore. With just 300 men God proved that he is all we need even in the face of impossible odds.  To read more about this epic Bible battle, check out Judges 7: 1-22.

In The Car:

Tell your kids about a time when you faced impossible odds.  How did God give you the victory?  Or did you try to take it on without God, and how did that turn out?

At Bedtime:

Thank God for always being there for us!  Thank him for his strength and mighty power, and that we can always rely on him for victory. God is all we need!

Weekly Challenge:

God is All We Need for Victory!

Is there something in your life that is overwhelming or scary?  Are you too afraid to tackle that hard subject head on, or scared of an upcoming test, or afraid to confront a bully who is making things hard at school?  God is all we need for victory!  We may still have a fight ahead of us, but knowing that we are on God’s side is all we need take courage, and keep fighting through it!
