The 5:
A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “Illegal Procedure” in 5 points or less.
- How do we conquer bitterness? Bitterness in nature almost exclusively signals poison or pain; the solution is to SPIT IT OUT!
- Get rid of all bitterness, rage and ager, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:31-32)
- Forgiveness dissolves bitterness and is like Roundup for the soul.
- If you hold on to bitterness, you can’t hold on to God’s grace.
- If you’ve received Christ’s forgiveness, you don’t have the right to not extend it to others.

The cheer of every football stadium in America doesn’t compare to the party happening in heaven because of the 12 people who made the choice to follow Jesus yesterday!
Kids Zone: Take It Home With You!
What We Learned:
We learned that Cain became bitter because he did not offer God his first and his best, but his brother Abel did. Cain became so bitter and consumed with sin that he killed his brother. This week our Big Idea is: Focus on Forgiveness and Kick Out Bitterness! Kids were challenged to forgive someone they have become bitter towards, and to take responsibility if they have caused bitterness in someone else.
In the car:
Tell your kids about something you have been bitter over. Tell them how bitterness just gets stronger over time, and how you were able to conquer that sin and forgive.
At bedtime:
Pray with your kids, thanking God for forgiving us. As long as we mean it in our heart, we can trust that Jesus will always forgive us when we ask. Thank God for not being bitter toward us, but for his unending love and forgiveness!
