Luke 18:28-29 NLT
Peter said, “We’ve left our homes to follow you.” “Yes,” Jesus replied, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or wife or brothers or parents or children, for the sake of the Kingdom of God, will be repaid many times over in this life, and will have eternal life in the world to come.”
Christ’s promise is that you will always have a family!
3 ways we can experience and fulfill Christ’s promise:
Find a mentor, Be a mentor
Proverbs 27:17 ESV
Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.
Be ready to give, and willing to receive
Galatians 6:1-3,10 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important…Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.
Comfort the hurt, Confront the wrong
Colossians 3:12-13,16 NIV
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you…Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
