Emotional Purity: My Heart
Psalm 119:9-11 NIV
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you.
Matthew 5:28 NIV
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Proverbs 4:23 NIV
Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.
Three Potential Responses To Impurity:
- Defensive – A belief that your actions are on some level acceptable
- Regretful – A feeling of regret that you were caught and now have to deal with the fallout
- Repentant – A deep sorrow for your actions and the pain it causes others
2 Corinthians 7:10 NIV
Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.
