Jesus Can Turn Anything Around If You Turn It Over To Him!
John 2:1-11 NET
Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding. When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no wine left.” Jesus replied, “Woman, why are you saying this to me? My time has not yet come.” His mother told the servants, “Whatever he tells you, do it.”
Now there were six stone water jars there for Jewish ceremonial washing, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the water jars with water.” So they filled them up to the very top. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the head steward,” and they did.
When the head steward tasted the water that had been turned to wine, not knowing where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), he called the bridegroom and said to him, “Everyone serves the good wine first, and then the cheaper wine when the guests are drunk. You have kept the good wine until now!”
Jesus did this as the first of his miraculous signs, in Cana of Galilee. In this way he revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.
Jesus can turn anything around if you turn
it over to Him!
Invite Him to the Party
John 16:33 NLT
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.
Expect the Extraordinary
1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT
…No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.
Do what He Says
Ephesians 3:20-21 HCSB
Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us—to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
When it was turned over to him, Jesus provided at just the right time, with more than enough, and it was better than what they had before!
Feast would go on for days, sometimes even weeks!
To run out of food or wine was a disgrace, a humiliation that you would never let down, it was also considered a very bad omen for the marriage itself…this was an absolute train wreck!
Notice that the problem still showed up even though Jesus was there. Christianity isn’t a ticket to easy street! But the cool part is that Jesus already has the solution to the problem, before the problem becomes reality…
Jesus says, you need to know that you will have trouble, but you also need to know that I have already overcome it! That problem your facing is already defeated in my name!
In Christ I can overcome anything that comes over me!!!
In these passages of scripture we see Jesus’ response to his mother reveals how she was approaching him. She was telling him he needed to do something, and he stops her, and reminds her that although she was his earthly mother, it was His Heavenly Father who called the shots, and it wasn’t time yet for him to be fully revealing who he was. Mary was trying to get Jesus to solve the problem her way, and that wasn’t going to fly…but you’ve got to love her faith and her expectation of the extraordinary…whatever he says, do it!
Do you consistently expect the extraordinary…awaiting an accident, foresee failure, courting catastrophe, predicting problems, thinking about trouble
You can’t be walking around in doubt, disillusionment, and defeat and expect Jesus to do the extraordinary!
Religion leaves you empty, but Jesus fills you with his grace.
You don’t need another religious rule to turn things around, you just need to start doing what he says! It’s the simplest form of Christianity!
In this message we see that Jesus…
Provided at just the right time – …when the wine ran out
Provided more than enough – 120-180 gallons of wine, 600-900 bottles!
Provided better than what they had before – …kept the good/best wine till now
