At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Remember that giant space shuttle on stage during Easter at Friendship? Yeah, this guy built it!

Do you have any pets?
Yes, we have a Puggle name Miley and a cat. Our son chose to name the cat Rocket.  Fun fact here, I wanted to give our son the middle name Rocket when he was born. Seriously. wouldn’t that be an awesome name, Rocket Shipp.

What is your favorite holiday?
Summer time, Racing Season, BBQ’s, Sunshine, Fireworks…… It’s the Fourth of July, may God bless America!

Do you have any hobbies during your spare time?
Racing is a family tradition for the Shipp’s. My brother and I grew up watching my dad and uncle race. As soon as we turned 16 we followed in their footsteps and began racing ourselves. This year I will also have the privilege to help my son begin racing quarter midgets.

What would be your biggest fear?
Failing the ones I love.  Plus Tsunami’s, they are literally in my nightmares.

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Dairy Queen ice cream cake.  It would be a short life, but tasty.

Who inspires you the most?
Jesus

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
I love being surrounded by so many other volunteers and staff that are truly focused on living their lives for Jesus. Working with all these great people rejuvenates, encourages, and energizes  me for my upcoming week.

If you could fly, where would you go?
I would fly south every winter.

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?
Being baptized.

What is your favorite scripture?
It changes from time to time. However the first scripture that really hit me was Isaiah 1:17, Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows.  To me it’s the essence of a true man in it’s simplest form.  Also, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
