Check out the second set of questions in Asking for a Friend, Part Two
Q: Does Friendship believe in the gifts of the Spirit?
1 Corinthians 12:4-7 NLT
There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us. A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.
Q: How can I come back to God? I realized after college how much I lost sight of the Lord.
Luke 15:20-22 NLT
“So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him. His son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you, and I am no longer worthy of being called your son. “But his father said to the servants, ‘Quick! Bring the finest robe in the house and put it on him. Get a ring for his finger and sandals for his feet.”
Q: How do I make sure I’m always putting God first?
Deuteronomy 6:5 NLT
And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength.
Q: How do I discern the voice of God from my own thoughts?
Hebrews 4:12 NIV
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.
Q: How can I not lose faith in a world full of turmoil?
Hebrews 12:2 NLT
We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
John 16:33 NIV
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Q: When dealing with addiction, how does one overcome while walking with Jesus? To come out on the other side new?
Q: How can I overcome my addiction that has been holding me back for years, and become the man God has called me to be?
1 Corinthians 6:12,14 NIV
“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything…By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
1 Corinthians 10:13-14 NIV
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.
Matthew 19:26 NLT
Jesus looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible.”
Q: How do you accept yourself when no one else accepts you? I do feel safe here!
Genesis 1:27 NLT
So God created human beings[a] in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Romans 8:38-39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 5:8NLT
But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.
The Creator of life loves you so intensely that He allowed His own Son to die in your place before you ever repented.
John 3:16 NLT
For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT
This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!
