Mormonism teaches that Jesus was once just like us, and if we are good enough we can become just like him!
“…God himself was once as we are now, and is an exalted man…we have imagined and supposed that God was God from all eternity. I will refute that idea…I will preach on the plurality of Gods.” – Teachings of Prophet Joseph Smith, pp. 345, 370
1 Corinthians 8:5-6 NLT
There may be so-called gods both in heaven and on earth, and some people actually worship many gods and many lords. But for us, There is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.
Mormonism says Jesus was created, Jesus says I am the Creator
And the Lord said: Whom shall I send? And one answered like unto the Son of Man (Jesus): Here am I, send me. And another (Lucifer) answered and said: Here am I, send me. And the Lord said: I will send the first (Jesus). And the second (Lucifer) was angry, and kept not his first estate; and, at that day, many followed after him. – BoM Abraham 3:27-28
John 1:3-4 NLT
All things were created through Him (Jesus), and apart from Him not one thing was created that has been created. Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men.
Mormonism says we can become gods, Jesus says there’s only one God
“Mortality is the testing or proving ground for exaltation to find out who among the children of God are worthy to become Gods themselves, and the Lord has informed us that ‘few there be that find it’.” – Doctrines of Salvation, Vol.1
John 17:3-5 NLT
And this is the way to have eternal life—to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth. I brought glory to you here on earth by completing the work you gave me to do. Now, Father, bring me into the glory we shared before the world began.
Mormonism says salvation is through Joseph Smith, Jesus says I am the way
“…no man or woman in this dispensation will ever enter into the celestial kingdom of God without the consent of Joseph Smith…. Every man and woman must have the certificate of Joseph Smith, as a passport to their entrance…” Journal of Discourses, Bringham Young
John 14:6 HCSB
Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
