"My favorite part of volunteering is interacting with the kids in Kids Zone and getting to know them as people." -Katie
At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.
Katie Bradley and her family and I came to Friendship in August of 2014. “We discovered Friendship through a friend, after our former church had ended. We had tried several different churches in Johnson County, but none of them really fit for us until we came to Friendship. I remember telling my parents that this church was my choice because everyone was so welcoming to us from the second we walked in, and I really liked the music.” Katie has served on the photography and video team at Friendship and now serves in Kids Zone, where she really likes interacting with the kids and getting to know them as people.

Do you have any hobbies during your spare time?
During the school year, I don’t have much time for my hobbies, but when I do have time, I really love to read, photography, and watching movies.
What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
I really like interacting with the kids in Kids Zone and getting to know them as people. Teaching in Kids Zone also helps me learn techniques that will apply in my own future classroom as well, and I’m really grateful for this opportunity that I’ve been given.
What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?
Whenever I’m serving in Kids Zone, it’s always great when I see our directors Jamie and Amy, because they are always happy to see me (not only when I’m serving, just generally) and it always makes my better when I’m around them. Them, and serving is always a great experience!
What do you do for a living/career?
I currently work at Regal Cinemas in Greenwood, but I’m studying Elementary Education at IUPUI! I’m doing my student teaching at Central Elementary in Pike Township, and it’s such a great school!
What would be your dream vacation?
I would really love to go to England and Ireland.
If you had a super power, what would it be?
I would want to be able to teleport anywhere. Mostly so I could sleep longer in the morning before leaving.
What is your favorite scripture?
Isaiah 41:10; “Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” I came across this verse when looking for my first tattoo, and I found this one and knew that this should be my first tattoo.
Who inspires you the most?
Definitely my mom, she is really strong and amazing. She always listens to everything that I have to say and is the logical voice to my crazy when I’m stressed out.
What is your proudest moment in life?
I would have to say getting into IUPUI’s Education program is one of my proudest moments. Becoming a elementary teacher has been my career goal for most of my life (since actual elementary school), and starting school for it, made it feel real to me. It made me feel like this is what I’m supposed to be doing with my life.
What are you guilty pleasure foods?
Let’s be real here, Sausage and Cheese McGriddles are the best thing ever.
What is your favorite day of the week?
Me? I love a good Thursday. It’s the day after my classes for the week are done, and I don’t start work until the evening and the weekend. It’s a nice time to relax away the stress from school.
