At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

This week we’re getting to know Ben Werner who serves in Kids Zone!

What brought you to Friendship originally?
My wife, Aly, and I were not getting anything useful out of our old church. We went to church because we knew we needed to and we wanted our kids to get in the habit, but it was not anything we honestly looked forward to or enjoyed. We decided to try out a few other churches and had 3 lined up that we really wanted to go try out. Friendship ended up being the first one that we went to and knew this was our new home.

Do you have any pets?
Yes, Tank. He is a 95 lb. part time chocolate lab part time wrestling buddy to our boys

What is your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving…I love family and food!

Do you have any hobbies during your spare time?
I like to golf and am getting into welding.

What do you do for a living/career?
I am in sales for a welding supplies, industrial gases & dry ice company, Sutton-Garten Co.

What is the last book you have read?
Lone Survivor by Marcus Luttrell. A must read for anyone!

What would be your biggest fear?
Losing my wife and boys…didn’t even want to write it down

Which cartoon character is your favorite?
Rocky and Bullwinkle

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
One type of food – Mexican
One food item – Cheeseburger with all the toppings

If you had a super power, what would it be?
To heal people…physically, mentally and spiritually

What is your favorite scripture?
1 Samuel 1:27 I prayed for this child, and the Lord has granted me what I asked of him.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Nope, they are all out in the open 🙂

Do you have any pet peeves? If so, what are they?
YES…people who do not use your turn signals!! It’s just a flick of the pinky finger…come on!

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?
Black team winning the 2016 Uncivilized!!

What has been your favorite Friendship series?
Husband vs. Wife…learned a lot of really good things from that series

What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?
It’s tough to pick just one thing, but I would say the amazing music

What is your proudest moment in life?
Seeing my two beautiful boys being born. Two of the best days of my life!

What is your favorite day of the week?
Friday Eve – otherwise known as Thursday 🙂
