At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Cory Peterson has worn various hats (and sweaters) here at Friendship. We’ve seen him as the “Uncivilized Mascot,” the “Rockin’ Christmas Eve Emcee,” and the “Real Man of Friendship.” And while Cory brings humor and whit to every area he serves, he’s also a guy behind-the-scenes, serving as a stage tech, ensuring the small details are getting done to set the table during each Sunday experience.

What brought you to Friendship originally?
My wife wanted to start attending church and Friendship was just down the street.

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas.  It’s a whole new kind of fun when you have children.

Probably beating Pastor Dave in a jousting match during Uncivilized.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
I’ve made some good friends, had a lot of fun, and ate a lot of peppermints.

What do you do for a living/career?
Operations Manager at Blue Beacon Truck Washes

What would be your biggest fear?
Being in the water with a Great White shark.

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My wife’s Stir Fry.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
Super strength.

What is your favorite scripture?
Proverbs 14:29, Whoever is patient has great understanding, but one who is quick-tempered displays folly.

Do you have any hidden talents?
I can “one handed” clap

Who inspires you the most?
I find inspiration in a lot of people. I’m a sucker for anything that has to do with children who don’t let disabilities hold them back in life.

Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.
I always enjoy talking with my Dad.

Do you have any pet peeves? If so, what are they?
Socks being left in the living room. It was just my wife for several years, but now both of my children do it to.

What is your proudest moment in life?
Hard to narrow it down, so I’ll go top 3. When my wife excepted my proposal of marriage and the first time I held each of my sons.
