"My favorite part of volunteering is when the little kids are excited to see me and greet me with big hugs and smiles.
At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.
Kristen Peterson is one of our incredible Kids Zone volunteers. Her favorite part of serving is when the little kids are excited to see her and greet her with big hugs and smiles.

What brought you to Friendship originally?
Honestly it was just by happenstance because Cory, my husband, would take our little boy to the playground at Friendship sometimes, so one day I stopped by when they were open and spoke with Jamie and Traci and we started that Sunday and have been going here almost five years now.
What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas! I love the reason we celebrate and just the love and family time that goes with it. Decorating, I love decorating for Christmas, too. I also love Halloween!!
Do you have any hobbies during your spare time?
When I have spare time, I love to spend time with my husband watching movies and hanging out with friends when we can. I also love to play with my boys, Trenton and Bennett, and of course Brutus our dog, too.
What do you do for a living/career?
Right now I am a full time student. I am currently in nursing school to be a Registered Nurse. When I graduate next June (YAY!) I would really like to work in the emergency room and eventually end up in the neonatal intensive care unit.
If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
I would probably choose my momma’s fried chicken.
What is your favorite scripture?
I have a few, but here are just a couple…
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
Who inspires you the most?
My husband. He does so much for our family and is so giving and would give the shirt off his back if someone needed it. He has such a big heart and works very hard to make sure he takes care of us.
Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.
I would like to talk to my mammaw again. She went to heaven on my 18th birthday.
Do you have any pet peeves? If so, what are they?
I don’t like to hear it when people chomp on food.
