I will pursue my God recklessly! I will improve myself continually! I will love my family unconditionally! I will do my job excellently! #MANifestoSeries

MANifesto_SM3

Somewhere along the line being a follower of God became the tamed pursuit of Scripture memorization, missionary closets, and organ music. Being a Christian was boring, predictable, and worse than anything else, it was safe. There was no danger in it, no risk taking, no adventure. What once was a radical movement of faith that cost men their very lives, toppled governments, freed slaves, and transformed even the most heinous of all, has been declawed, neutered, and made the house pet of mild mannered, blue- haired, little old ladies.

That is not the faith that we have, that is not the God that we serve. This week let’s pursue God recklessly!

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “I Will Pursue My God Recklessly” in 5 points or less.

  1. God never asked anyone to do anything easy, but desires great things for you.
  2. God is not remotely safe, and neither is following Him, but promises to always be by your side.
  3. Safety isn’t found in the absence of danger but in the presence of God.
  4. God expects all or wants nothing, but rewards us extravagantly.
  5. God wants to turn you loose not tie you down because he made us unique.

What We Learned:

Our BIG IDEA yesterday was Stay Thirsty for God! God mentions water as one of the very first things ever in the Bible! Water is used to bring and sustain life, Jesus even refers to himself as living water. Water reminds just how much we NEED God! Without water we can’t survive, thirst reminds us we need to drink water and lots of it!

In The Car:

Everyone take turns sharing a time when they were ridiculously thirsty. How does that help us remember to stay thirsty for God?

At Bedtime:

Pray with your kids, thanking God for keeping us filled with his love everyday. Pray that we would always remember to keep ourselves filled with his love by reading our Bibles, praying, and doing what he says. Let us be so full of his love that we share it with everyone around us, just the same as we would share water if they were thirsty!
