You’ve got questions…but you are a little uncomfortable asking them out loud, so why don’t you ‘ask for a friend’!
We’ve all got questions, so let’s see if we can help get some answers together!
No question is off limits, and Dave will do his best to answer as many questions as possible, so ask away!
Check out the first set of questions in Asking for a Friend, Part One.
Q: What are Angels?
Angelos = Messenger or One who is sent!
They are created beings
Genesis 2:1 NASB
Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts (inhabitants).
But when specifically were the angels created, they are not mentioned in the Creation account?
Job 38:4,7 NIV
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
…while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?”
Colossians 1:16 NIV
For by him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.
Hebrews 1:13-14 HSCB
Now to which of the angels has He ever said: Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies Your footstool? Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve those who are going to inherit salvation?
So what are angels:
-
-
-
- God’s specific messengers
- Who personally carry out God’s plan on the earth
- Created beings made by God at some point prior to the creation of the earth
- Spirit beings who for the most part are unseen

Q: Can my loved ones become angels/guardian angels?
Matthew 18:10 HCSB
See that you don’t look down on one of these little ones, because I tell you that in heaven their angels continually view the face of My Father in heaven.
Psalm 34:7 NASB
The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him, and rescues them.
Hebrews 13:2 HCSB
Don’t neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it.
Q: Is there such a thing as demons? And if so, what are they?
Revelation 12:7-9 NIV
Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
Isaiah 14:12-14 NLT
“How you are fallen from heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, ‘I will ascend to heaven and set my throne above God’s stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High.’
Revelation 12:4 NLT
His tail swept away one-third of the stars in the sky, and he threw them to the earth…
Revelation 5:11 NIV
Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders.
10,000 X 10,000 = 100 Million! So, if we take that to be a literal number, instead of basically saying, “Way too many to even count!” The Devil/Satan/Lucifer leads at least 50 Million fallen angels, that God now refers to as demons, evil spirits, deceiving spirits.
- In John 10:10 Satan is called a thief, a murderer, and a liar
- 1 Peter 5:8 describes him as a lion who is looking to devour humanity in an attempt to hurt God
- John 12:9 – he and his angels are actively deceiving the entire world
- 2 Cor 11:14-15 – he disguises himself as an angel of light, or a good angel and his angels disguise themselves as servants of righteousness
