Gratefulness only becomes real once you express it.
Gratefulness only becomes real once you express it.
Matthew 12:34 NLT
…whatever is in your heart determines what you say.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Question:
When things go wrong what is your learned reaction: Thankfulness or Crankiness?
Luke 17:11-19 NIV
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.”
And as they went, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
2 How’s and a why!
HOW #1: Realize the depth of your need and the breadth of God’s love
HOW#2: Praise as loud and as passionate as you prayed
Question:
Is there anything in your life that you have not been appropriately thankful for?
WHY: Gratitude heals us from the inside out
After reading Matthew 12:34, what would you say about your heart?
- Are your always grouchy? You have a cranky heart.
- Are you alway mad? You have an angry heart.
- Are you always grumbling? You have a complaining heart.
Gratefulness and thankfulness are really easy to check on, just ask the people around you, “What comes out of my mouth and what attitudes do I most often express?”
Two more verses to help us realize the depth of your need and the breath of God’s love:
Romans 8 – nothing can ever separate us from the love of God!
John 3:16 – God so loved the world that he sent his son
Stop praying so much and start praising God for what he’s done so far.
Curtail your complaining about what isn’t going your way and celebrate the things God’s doing
