The Church was designed to provide us with Community!

No I in team!

God never intended for life to be lived alone!

Genesis 2:18 NIV
The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

Hebrews 10:24-25 NLT
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

1 Corinthians 12:26-27 NIV
If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.

The Church was designed to provide us with Community!

Community Only Happens When Each Of Us…

Encourages Each Other

1 Thessalonians 5:11 NLT
So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

Lifts Each Other

Galatians 6:1-2 NLT
Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer[a] is overcome by some sin, you who are godly[b] should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Serves Each Other

Galatians 5:13 NLT
For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.

The most severe form of punishment, short of execution, Solitary Confinement.

As a Christian you are connected with all the other Christians around you. You believe in the same God, you accepted the same Savior, you are filled with the same Spirit. It is both an incredible joy and a deep responsibility that we share with each other.

Don’t confuse this with the purpose of the Church, which is to reach people far from God and teach people to be like Jesus. But Jesus intentionally designed the church so that Christians could have community, camaraderie, fellowship, and support from each other!

But, you might ask, what about all of these dysfunctional, messed up churches? That’s because Community can only happen when each of us is willing to do our part. We cannot just come and soak things up and expect to experience what God intended for us to experience. The church is designed around a team concept, it’s not about one person or a small group of people who do all the work and a bunch of others who come and enjoy, it’s about all of us owning the experience, the process, the plan together.

It’s the difference in saying, that’s the church I go to, and I am a part of this church.

Law of Christ – Love each other as I have loved you
