Let Go, and Let God

Matthew 5:38-45 CEV
You know that you have been taught, “An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.” But I tell you not to try to get even with a person who has done something to you. When someone slaps your right cheek, turn and let that person slap your other cheek. If someone sues you for your shirt, give up your coat as well. If a soldier forces you to carry his pack one mile, carry it two miles. When people ask you for something, give it to them. When they want to borrow money, lend it to them. “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy. But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! In that way, you will be acting as true children of your Father in heaven. For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and he sends rain on the just and the unjust alike.

Let Go, and Let God

Only when we realize who we are can we let go without fear. If you’ve accepted Jesus Christ, then you are a child of God. Everything you do and say, every action and reaction, the outcome of your life reflects the reputation of our father. God has a vested interest in the outcome of your life!

Your reputation isn’t yours, the stuff you’ve got isn’t yours, the direction of your life and the money you have isn’t yours. If you’ve given everything over to God, then it’s God’s. It’s his to repay, repair, rescue, or even to get revenge!

2 Unshakeable Truths:

It’s easier to let go of what you’ve got when you know who’s got you!

1 Peter 2:21-23 NLT
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone. He did not retaliate when he was insulted,  nor threaten revenge when he suffered. He left his case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.

Romans 12:19 NIV
Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord.

Exodus 14:13-14 NLT
But Moses told the people, “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the Lord rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. The Lord himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.”

God will never take something from you unless he’s got something better for you!

Matthew 19:29 NLT
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or property, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much in return and will inherit eternal life.

Philippians 3:7-8 NLT
I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ

You think, I’m going to hold onto this…I’m going to hold it over their head…I’m not going to forgive them…I’m going to get them back…I’m going to justify, defend, rescue myself! But, Jesus says, “Let it go”.

If you refuse to let go it is actually you who becomes bound, bound to your past, bound to your hurt, bound to negativity, bound to lies, bound to the very people who’ve attacked you! When you hang on to those things, its like you are hanging on to an anchor that’s pulling you down and drowning your soul, your spirit, it’s swallowing up your joy, it’s overwhelming your purpose, and it’s extinguishing your fulfillment in life.

Whether its revenge, replace, or rescue, God’s got you!
