Every comeback always starts as a setback!

Every comeback always starts as a setback!

Look for the setup within the setback!

Genesis 37:23-24,28 NLT
So when Joseph arrived, his brothers ripped off the beautiful robe he was wearing. Then they grabbed him and threw him into the cistern. Now the cistern was empty; there was no water in it…So when the Ishmaelites, who were Midianite traders, came by, Joseph’s brothers pulled him out of the cistern and sold him to them for twenty pieces of silver.
And the traders took him to Egypt.

Genesis 39:4 CEV
Potiphar liked Joseph and made him his personal assistant, putting him in charge of his house and all of his property.

Believe my setbacks are sent to prepare me, not punish me!

Genesis 39:19-20 NLT
Potiphar was furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison where the king’s prisoners were held, and there he remained.

Genesis 41:9,14 NLT
Finally, the king’s chief cup-bearer spoke up. “Today I have been reminded of my failure,” he told Pharaoh…Pharaoh sent for Joseph at once, and he was quickly brought from the prison. After he shaved and changed his clothes, he went in and stood before Pharaoh.

See my setbacks as stepping stones not stumbling blocks!

Genesis 45:7-8 NLT
God has sent me ahead of you to keep you and your families alive and to preserve many survivors. So it was God who sent me here, not you! And he is the one who made me an adviser to Pharaoh—the manager of his entire palace and
the governor of all Egypt.

Genesis 50:20 NLT
You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so
I could save the lives of many people.

January 4th 2014, Chiefs & Colts, early in the 3rd Quarter the Colts were down by 28 points. Andrew Luck had thrown 3 interceptions, and the game looked like it was over! But then the Colts got a drive together and scored a touchdown, the Chiefs answered with a field goal, then in a matter of less than 5 minutes the Colts scored two more touch down’s, capped off by this dramatic fumble recovery and touch down by Andrew Luck…The stadium went wild and the Colts went on to win 45 to 44, capping the second greatest comeback in NFL history.

The God of the Bible God is a God of comebacks!

  • He is the God of the underdog, the outcast, the failed, the flawed, the undesirable, the mistake prone, and the hopeless! The Bible is littered with comeback stories…
  • Jacob had to run for his life because he stoled his brothers inheritance, God got a hold of him and brought him back, restored his relationship with his brother Esau
  • Moses killed a man and had to flee all he’d ever known, but God met him on the backside of nowhere and brought him back to be the leader of his people
  • Ruth was married to the love of her life, but he died of sickness, and she left everything she had to take care of her mother-in-law in a foreign country, and in the process of taking care of her God brought her back into the presence of a man named Boaz, who became the love of her life
  • Esther’s entire nation was on the verge of genocide, but God brought her back to stand before the King, and because of her boldness and bravery her nation was saved

Our God is a God of comebacks!
