Jealously destroys you not them!

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s message “Personal Foul” in 5 points or less.

  1. Success or achievement motivated by jealousy is empty. Even if it is achieved, it literally robs you of any and all joy because it’s never enough. It makes success taste like sand!
  2. You only have two possible choices when situations arise. You can be reactive and let the situation dictate your response, or you can be proactive and choose your actions based on discipline.
  3. Jealousy destroys you physically, it destroys your personality, and it destroys your enjoyment.
  4. Being content isn’t a natural reaction, it’s a supernatural choice…a choice that you and I can make in every single situation. Contentment doesn’t mean you are happy in the bad times. It means you are satisfied with life, and secure in the knowledge that God has things under control.
  5. It’s a choice to believe that God is ALL you need!

Kids Zone: Take It Home With You!

What We Learned:

We learned about David and his bad choice to give in to jealousy over another man’s wife! This week kids were challenged not to give into jealousy by being thankful for their blessings. By focusing on what we have, we can praise God instead of letting sin control us!

In the car:

Tell kids about a time when you let jealousy consume you. What was the result? Did you sin, or how did you overcome your jealousy? Let them know by focusing on how blessed they are that they can use those positive thoughts to get rid of jealousy all together!

At bedtime:

Pray thanking God for his many blessings! Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, challenge kids to pray for children who don’t have the many blessings they do. By praying for those less fortunate than us, we can help show kids just how very blessed they are!
