A Healthy Marriage Has Two People Who Focus On The Right Things!

A healthy marriage has two people who focus on the right things!

Matthew 7:12 NLT
Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.

This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 NIV
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

My marriage will improve as I focus on…

Their needs above my needs

Philippians 2:5-7 NLT
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Being truthful and transparent

Proverbs 12:22 NLT
The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.

Protecting the relationship at all cost

Filling them with hope

Proverbs 13:12 NLT
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life.

Making it through, not making it out

Song of Solomon 8:6-7 NLT
Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm. For love is as strong as death, its jealousy as enduring as the grave. Love flashes like fire, the brightest kind of flame. Many waters cannot quench love, nor can rivers drown it.

Howard Hendricks – 90% of marriages end because of 10% of disagreements.

Jesus lived his entire life putting the needs of others in front of himself!

Prayer each morning: Thank you for a new day, show me how I can fulfill my husband/wife needs today!

Love doesn’t lie!!!

Foundation of a great marriage is trust, lies eradicate trust. It’s better to tell the truth and deal with the consequences than to be found out a liar and forever be untrustworthy!
