What We Learned:

There was a dad with two sons, and he decided to give them their inheritance early. The younger son blew all of his money on irresponsible things, and wound up starving and eating pig food. He decided to come home and ask his dad to forgive him. His dad was so happy to see him, he ran out, gave him a big hug and threw him a party! He was so happy to have his son back, just like Jesus is happy when we repent and come back to him!

In The Car:

Tell your kids about a time you had to ask your parents for forgiveness. How did it go? Did they react like the dad in the Bible?

At Bedtime:

Read the story of the Prodigal Son in your Bible in Luke 15:11-32. Pray with your child, thanking God for his never-ending love and forgiveness! Thank God that he never stops loving us. Pray that as your kids grow up they would always know that asking God for forgiveness and coming home are always the right choice!

Weekly Challenge:

Our BIG IDEA today is: I Can Ask Forgiveness When I’m Wrong!

Kids have been challenged this week to ask forgiveness when they are wrong. Being wrong happens all the time, but being sorry enough to ask forgiveness is the example from the Bible we need to follow. Just like the father of the Prodigal Son was happy when his son returned to him, Jesus is happy when we come to him and ask forgiveness when we make bad choices. God will never stop loving us no matter how far away from him we try to run. When we are ready to ask forgiveness, God will always be there!
