If you want to have a friend you must be a friend. #BuildingALifeThatMatters

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “Be Friendly”
in 5 points or less.

  1. A friend is faithful, sympathetic, influential, honest, supportive, loyal, kind, and discreet.
  2. If it’s not your business, your right to share, in Jesus Name, shut up!
  3. Often in friendships we aren’t faithful, we’re flakey.
  4. Who you surround yourself with will be your influence.
  5. A friendship can be rebuilt, a person’s life may not be if you’re holding out on being honest with them.

Kids Zone: Take It Home With You!

What We Learned:

Jesus was in a crowd of people. He picked the biggest sinner ever, a man named Zacchaeus who had no friends–and went to his house over everyone else! Because Jesus was a friend to Zacchaeus, he turned his entire life around! Read more about this story in your Bible in Luke 19:1-10. A man’s entire life was changed, just because Jesus chose to extend him friendship!

In The Car:

Tell your kids about a time when you either did, or didn’t show friendship like Jesus. How does that memory effect you to this day? How can your child Be Friendly Like Jesus, and possibly change someone’s life forever?

At Bedtime:

Read the story of Zacchaeus in your Bible together. Pray thanking God for showing us his love, and for Jesus being our forever friend. Ask God to show you someone in your life who needs someone to be friendly to them. Pray that God would fill your heart with love and friendship for those who are hurting, and that God would use you to send some kindness their way!

Weekly Challenge:

Be Friendly Like Jesus!
In the Bible we saw how Jesus picked the biggest sinner to spend some special time with. This week kids are challenged to go out of their comfort zone and talk with their friends about reaching out to someone who is lonely or not included at school. If there is a kid who always sits alone at lunch, then join them! If it’s someone who never plays games at recess, invite them to be on your team. Being friendly can start with something small, but for that person your kindness could change their life forever, like Zacchaeus!
