The light of Christ in me is the hope for my world!

Matthew 5:14,16 NIV
“You are the light of the world…let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

The light of Christ in me is the hope for my world!

Stop pointing fingers and start doing something

John 9:1-7 NIV
As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

After saying this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.

Share my story with those around me

John 9:8-12 NIV
His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?” Some claimed that he was. Others said, “No, he only looks like him.” But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”

“How then were your eyes opened?” they asked. He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”

“Where is this man?” they asked him. “I don’t know,” he said.

Invite others to experience Christ

John 9:24-30 NIV
A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.” He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”

Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”

Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses! We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”

The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.”

The purpose of a light is to shine…it drives away darkness, it eradicates the shadows, it illuminates color, it brings life every where it goes!

Last week I shared with you that the Light of Jesus offers Hope, with Christ the darkness is temporary, with Christ no darkness is too dark and with Christ the darkness no longer controls you!

So, Jesus says, hey, I’ve given you my light, now your job is to live your life in such a way that my light shines through you!

It’s time that we as people who claim to know Christ stand up and own up and say, my world would be a better place if I was doing my job of being a light to my world! How can you be a light in your neighborhood, to your friends, to the guy down the street you only wave at?

He doesn’t have all of the answers, he doesn’t even know where Jesus is…all he knows is his story, I was blind now I’m not, Jesus put mud my eyes and I can now see…was it a proprietary blend of dirts with special Eucalyptus oil mined from the Himalayans? Uh no, it was spit filled dirt from the road…

What’s your story? I don’t have all the answers…it’s not about how much you know, it’s about who you know and what he’s done!

Religious leaders of the day who were constantly opposed to Jesus because he was undermining their power and their system, hears about the man’s healing…but it was on the Sabbath…a strict no healing on the Sabbath policy!

Were you really blind…yes…who healed you, Jesus…not possible that man is a fraud…Call in his parent…was your son born blind? Yes…was he healed by Jesus…yeah, we don’t know about that, he’s a grown man you should ask him…

You have seen the light, now it’s your job to shine the light.
