"The proudest moment in my life was finding out I was pregnant after trying for 7 years! Then delivering her… best day ever."

At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Krystal Killy’s story is evidence that when you invite a friend a church, life-change happens! She currently serves on the Friendship Creative worship team and with Kids Zone and puts her heart in all she does.

What brought you to Friendship originally?
Nita Conway was a patient of mine on the northside and every month I saw her for a year she asked me to come. Finally we did and they can’t get rid of us now! 🙂

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
Engaging people in the worship experience. For me, music is my main worship. Those words express everything I would say and being able to help lead others in the same way is exciting. And I get to use my passion for singing to give glory to my Great God!

Do you have any pets?
Yes 3 dogs, a teenage boy and a husband.

What is your favorite holiday?
Christmas. My parents always went all out decorating when I was younger so now I love to decorate and I could leave it up all year round. I love the wonderful time we get to spend with family rejoicing over the real reason for Christmas.

What is the last book you have read?
Altar Ego by Craig Groeschel when it was a church wide study…. yeah I don’t have time to read anymore unless its The Big Red Barn.

What would be your dream vacation?
Vacation? What’s a vacation?

What is your favorite scripture?
2 Cor 5:17 – “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old is gone and the new has come!” I am living proof of this verse–that’s why it has etched a special place in my heart.

Who inspires you the most?
My papa. He is so stubborn and hard headed, but he is the hardest working person I know who would still give you the shirt off his back, even if it was the last one he owned. He works so so hard and never gets any credit. Never expects any. But I find I am more like him every single day… stubborn and hard headed! Look out world, here comes Chuck #2!

Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.
My Grams. I just miss her so much. The last 5 years of her life the Alzheimers had taken away her brain. Would love to talk to her again with her sound mind just to know that I’m doing this parenting thing right. Because she did an amazing job at loving everyone like Jesus would, regardless of flaws or behavior. She gave so much grace.

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?
Every Sunday seems to be memorable, but I do remember the very first Sunday we came to Friendship and Dave’s series was called Garage Sale “getting rid of the junk” and that day he talked about Anger and I knew God was telling me I needed to be there!
