"My favorite thing about volunteering at Friendship is watching God's grace alter people's lives in unimaginable ways."

At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Say hello to Josh Miller! This Star Wars loving dad of two (almost three) girls is a Mooresville native who is a Friendship Elder and one of our newest small group leaders.

What brought you to Friendship originally?

A conversation with a friend where she displayed more resolution and confidence in her answers about God that it made me question what I was taught and who God was. This led to a desire to understand more about God and have a marriage based around God. Friendship happened to be the closest church to our new home and was the first church we visited on our journey to find a church home. We never visited any other Churches because of the casual and welcoming environment that made us feel at home.

What is your favorite holiday?

Memorial Day. We usually go to Lake Cumberland and I really enjoy boating, tubing, skiing, relaxing in the water, hiking, biking, swimming, and just all the fun with the family.

Which cartoon character is your favorite?

Goofy. When I was younger I was referred to as Goof by my parents. I really enjoyed goofing around and having fun, much like I still do today. I actually recently passed down my Goofy stuffed animal to my children and it has been fun to see them play with it.

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Chicken fajitas with fresh guacamole and hand made chips. We had this made fresh on our honeymoon in Dec 2008 on the top of the hill overlooking the bay in Puerto Vallarta. I honestly could eat these everyday for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The view and company could not have gotten better either!

If you had a super power, what would it be?

The ability to quickly understand the complexities of the world and infinite knowledge. I really enjoy learning, but most of all enjoy teaching and connecting with people on their level in way that helps them understand.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I am a good cook, was a talented cello player, and can sing well enough.

What inspires you the most?

A challenge and being told that something is impossible.

Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.

Benjamin Franklin

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?

Wow! This is very tough as there have been so many moments. The most impacting moment to me as a person was watching our first teen get baptized. My heart was so full of joy and love in that moment. One of the most memorable moments was watching Don Stewart baptize his own daughters (so much admiration and celebration in that moment).

What has been your favorite Friendship series?

Another tough question. There have been so many good series and so many that have challenged my life in a very positive way, I don’t think I could specifically pick out one, so would have to say the next one.
