"My proudest moment in life, besides marrying my best friend and having two beautiful daughters, was my decision to follow Jesus Christ. That is what has made my life whole."

At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

Jim Rusaw started attending Friendship after his wife and daughters had been attending for about a year. After watching both his daughters be baptized, he became a regular attender and quickly took the next steps to become a Ministry Partner. Now he and his wife Julie, serve as leaders for our Ignite Student Ministry. We’re so thankful for Jim’s heart and passion to serve the 5th and 6th graders in our community!

What is your favorite holiday?
Thanksgiving.  The best food all year!

I attempt to play golf.  I also enjoy looking for antiques with my wife.

What do you do for a living/career?
I work for Chase Bank as a Quality Assurance analyst in our National Subpoena Processing Department.

What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?
The connections and friendships that get cultivated, and of course we have the best worship team around in my opinion.

Which cartoon character is your favorite?
As a kid it would have been Woody Woodpecker (I am old, sorry).  As an adult it would have to be Mr. Incredible.

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Easily it would be chicken wings.  Hot barbecue as the sauce and lots of ranch for dipping.

If you had a super power, what would it be?
The ability to read minds.  I live in a house full of females, LOL.

What is your favorite scripture?
I literally wear it on my arm, 1 Corinthians: 13-14

Do you have any hidden talents?
I can wiggle my ears lol.  Don’t know if it is a talent but i don’t know anyone else that can.

Who inspires you the most?
My wife.  She has always had faith in me no matter what and has gotten me out of my comfort zone in many aspects.

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?
Having the honor of baptizing three of our Ignite students.

What has been your favorite Friendship series?
Honestly I really like the most recent man series MANifesto.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?
Since I work with kids, getting to see them grow in their faith and seeing the proverbial light bulb go on in their heads when we discuss different topics on Sunday mornings. Also when they grow out of Ignite when they come back and thank Julie and I for helping and teaching them. I know that means we are doing what God has called us to do!

If you could fly, where would you go?
The moon.
