Small things can accomplish big results when done in deep faith!

Tabitha

Matthew 17:20 NIV

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

3 Lessons we can learn from Tabitha:

Doing good no matter the size always makes a difference

Acts 9:36-38 NLT

There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor. About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room. But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!”

Your ‘nothing special’ is something special to someone

Acts 9:39 NLT

So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them.

The impact of your life is often most realized in your death

Acts 9:40-43 NLT

But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up! He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive. The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord. And Peter stayed a long time in Joppa, living with Simon, a tanner of hides.

Colossians 3:23-24 HCSB

Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men, knowing that you will receive the reward of an inheritance from the Lord. You serve the Lord Christ.

Matthew 10:42 NLT

And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.

Tabitha was more than likely a widow herself and in that day unless their deceased husbands had been very intentional widows were left with very little. However, we see that Tabitha was undeterred in her desire to help people, especially people in her same type of predicament. She apparently was an excellent seamstress and she used that talent to make beautiful clothes for widows so that they could be both warm and feel confident. She had made such an impact in the church that when she died the church leaders sent for Peter because they just ‘couldn’t’ imagine going forward without her.

We get so wrapped up in our celebrity culture, even within the church, that we think if we aren’t doing HUGE things it doesn’t matter. Jesus says it’s not about the size of what you do, it’s the faith behind it that makes a difference!  Tabitha was great a great example of this!

God is not missing anything you do in the name of Jesus Christ!
