Jesus welcomes your doubts and wants to answer your questions! #LostAndWandering

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “The Doubter”
in 5 points or less.

  1. Jesus does not begrudge Thomas the evidence of His hands and sides; He invites him to make sure. He invites him to see for himself and then believe.
  2. Read the Bible with your questions in mind, look for what the Bible gives as answers, don’t just accept what someone else says, look for yourself, become a student so you know first hand!
  3. What we believe, in the context of our faith, must be grounded in something other than what we simply desire to be true.
  4. The disciples’ confession that Jesus is risen was not a casual confession—”Oh, wow, far out, Jesus is back! Isn’t that cool?” It was a confession that shook all of their prior assumptions apart and turned their worlds upside down. They did not accept it lightly; they only finally accepted it when they no longer had any choice, when they were compelled by the evidence of their own eyes. But they fought it; they resisted it; none of them could believe it only on the word of someone else. None of them believed until the evidence of Jesus’ being alive undeniably presented itself in their own eyes. – Jack Crabtree
  5. If you’re doubting, ask your questions, examine the evidence, and draw your conclusion.

What We Learned:

Yesterday we learned that after Jesus rose from the dead, he showed himself to the disciple several times! He told them to have faith and believe that he was back! He also gave them the command to go and tell the world the good news, that he had died on the cross and rose from the dead three days later to take the punishment of sin away from the world. When we choose to follow him, we will live forever in heaven!

In The Car:

Tell your kids what life was like before you chose to follow Jesus. How is it different now that you have made the choice to follow him?

At Bedtime:

Pray with your kids, thanking God for sending his son Jesus to take away sin!  Thank him for loving us so much that he forgives us even when we make mistakes. Pray that we would make the choice to live our life his way and said of our own way this week!
