At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

This week we’re saying hello to Aimee Stewart. She currently serves with the Friendship Creative band, is an Elder’s wife, and small group leader, and if she had a super power it would be to have super memory!

What do you do for a living/career?

I homeschool my four children. Then during my spare time I try to clean the house and make dinner once in a while.

If you had a super power, what would it be?

I would want a super memory. So I could remember all the blessings from God, scripture and references (because you know how inspired those are), people’s names and prayer requests, and my childhood (most of which I have forgotten). However, along with that I would want the ability to delete memories. I would want to delete those memories of people accidentally hurting my feelings and other memories that don’t help me be more Christ like.

What is your favorite scripture?

Philippians 1:6 And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. I was an extremely shy child when I was younger.  I am still a quiet person who has a hard time thinking of what to say to people I don’t know very well. But back during my high school years I was still painfully shy. Then, during my senior year it was as if I emerged from a cocoon. I was growing in Christ, making lots of Christian friends, and even leading Bible studies. I didn’t even recognize myself and really I was amazed that God could change me so quickly. The thought that he wasn’t finished with me then and still isn’t finished with me now amazes me.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Probably but I’ve forgotten what it is. Too bad I don’t have my super power.

What has been your favorite Friendship series?

Either It’s Not About Me (because I think everything is about me) or Small Things Big Difference (because small changes really do make big differences).

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?

When I volunteer I put myself in a better position to grow in Christ.  I also love serving alongside others and seeing them grow.

What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?

I love worshiping with the band. There is just something holy about playing and singing songs to God, in the band, with the congregation singing along.

Which household chore do you dread doing?

I try to give those to the kids.

What is your proudest moment in life?

I’m never going to be able to narrow this to just one.  But each time one of my kids choose to follow Christ (two have been baptized so far) or say something that shows growth or understanding; then I want to announce it to the world.

What is your favorite day of the week?

Friday. For one it is usually an easier school day for us, but it is also an evening we set aside for our family movie nights. We usually have homemade pizza too. And although it might sound daunting to some, it’s easier for me to make homemade pizza then it is to decide what to make. I’m the worst at meal planning. Friday nights are always planned and that makes it stress free for me.
