Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; Then your barns will be filled with overflowing, And your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

Reading for today: Proverbs 3:1-35

All throughout the Bible God makes it very clear that he wants to be first place in our lives. In fact, the Bible says that anything that is more important to us than God is an idol, or a false god.  Here is a good way to determine whether or not money is a ‘god’ to you.

Do you:
•    Spend more time balancing your checkbook than you do in prayer?
•    Spend more money going out to eat than you give back to God?
•    Read more articles, magazines, and books on investing than you do reading the Bible?
•    Get more frazzled if your bank account is overdrawn than if your spiritual bank account is empty?

If you answered yes to any of these, you probably have a higher view of money than you should. It’s not that money isn’t important, it is, but it’s not the MOST important, God is!
