Whatever It Is

Philippians 4:8-10 (New International Version)
8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

This is one of those passages that you can look at and apply to every area of your life. Paul the author of Philippians repeatedly says “whatever”. So you can put whatever music, television show, conversation, or anything else in it’s place to ask yourself if your living the way God would have you live. For example “Is this TV show true, right, noble, pure lovely, admirable, excellent, or worthy of praise?” The key is being honest with your answer. If the answer is “no” then walk away, better yet run away.
You see we have to have questions we can ask ourselves to help us evaluate and see if we are living God’s way or our way. We have to know if what we are doing gives off the image of a follower of Jesus Christ or someone wallowing in the things of the world.
Let’s face it…the church is full of Christians who want to have their cake and eat it to. We don’t need anymore fat Christians with only the an appetite for the sweet easy life. We need Christians with an appetite for God and the meat of His word.
