"Each and every time I volunteer, whether in the nursery or outside of the church, it seems I always get more back than what I give."

At Friendship we believe the Church is not a building, it’s people, serving together to glorify God as an effective and influential church. So, each week, we’ll highlight a volunteer or staff member who serves at Friendship, because our volunteers and staff make everything we do possible! We’ve asked each person some fun questions to help you get to know them better.

This week we’re saying hello to Vickie Hite. One of our Small Group leaders, if you give her a beach, some french fries, and a good book and she’s happy!

What brought you to Friendship originally?

My husband and I had been looking for a new church for about a year. One Sunday morning I said there are several church’s over by Worthsville  road let’s see who is having a service when we get there… Friendship’s service was starting in 5 minutes so that is where we stopped.  We are so grateful we did!

What would be your biggest fear?

I do NOT like snakes… Anything that moves without legs is not right!

If you had to choose one food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?

French fries (diet French fries)

Name one person, living or deceased, that you would like to have a conversation with.

I was in Italy for my 25th wedding anniversary and while at the Vatican I saw the Pieta. This is a statue of Mary holding Jesus after he was taken off of the cross. It was very moving for me and I would love to sit and have a cup of tea with Mary and discover more about her.

Do you have any pet peeves? If so, what are they?

Pet peeves? Heavens no… Unless you count getting irritated with those people at the grocery store that stop and leave their cart in the middle of the aisle while they shop on the other side, or those who don’t use turn signals at stop signs.

What is your most memorable moment at Friendship?

The Rejuvenate events have been a great time for me…ladies working together to serve other ladies, giving an opportunity to bring everyone together for an evening of learning about God.

What is your favorite thing about volunteering?

I love to volunteer and I am always looking for new opportunities. Not only at church but in the community as well. There are so many good causes that need help. Each and every time I volunteer whether in the nursery or outside of the church it seems I always get more back than what I give.

If you could fly, where would you go?

On a plane…Texas to see my son and his wife (did I happen to mention I am going to be a grandma?!)

What is your favorite part of Sunday mornings at Friendship?

My favorite time on Sunday morning is when the ticker is counting down and the music starts. For me the energy gets going and it is time for worship to begin. Love to watch people’s faces.

What are you guilty pleasure foods?

Did I mention French fries….and dark chocolate…

What is your favorite day of the week?

I love Fridays that is the day of our small group when we come together in fellowship sharing God’s word and caring for each other.
