Understand God’s Word

Nehemiah 8:10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is sacred to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

The Levites were reading from The Book of the Law of God, making sure to explain it as they went along so the people listening could understand. The crowd was so moved by the Law and being able to understand it that they were weeping. So, Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites spoke the words written in Nehemiah 8:10.

I know there are many times when the people of God finally come to such an understanding of scripture that they are moved to tears. It is a very emotional experience. But notice that God doesn’t want us to sit in a state of grief. He wants us to recognize how sacred this time is in our lives and celebrate the understanding of His Word. If you need to repent definitely take the time to confess that to God but don’t waller in self pity. Be thankful and blessed for the clear voice of God that you had the privilege of hearing.
