True & Lasting Hope
During World War II there were hundreds of thousands of prisoners of war held in Nazi concentration camps. After the war ended and these POW’s began to tell their stories, the horrific tales that flowed from these men, and yes women, would shock the average person.
But, when asked how they survived such atrocities their answers were almost exclusively one word answers, “Hope”. Hope of all different kinds, hope that they would survive, hope to see their family again, hope that the allies would win the war, and hope that they would be rescued.
Hope is an amazing thing, it allows the human mind to cope with and survive unbelievably excruciating and painful experiences. The Bible promises to us a hope that goes beyond natural, human generated hope. The hope we are promised as Christians is supernatural. This hope is infinitely more powerful and more life altering than anything available in the natural world, because it is based in the person of Jesus Christ…
