The Mundane, Level Plain

Most would say that the times they feel closest to God is when they are high on the mountain tops or deep in the valleys. That in their most glory filled moments they feel they have arrived to a place where they feel as if God is right there with them. Something about those high-emotion moments leads them to actually grow closer to God.

This is all true. It does happen that way.

But what about feeling that connection in the midst of the mundane. How are you feeling on a Tuesday afternoon after an average, ordinary weekend and an average, ordinary start to your week. Are you exploding with love and connection to God? Are you experiencing Him to the fullest degree of His holiness? Most would say “Absolutely not. How do I stay close to God between hauling kids to practices and going to a job five days a week that I don’t even like, just to come home and have MORE work to do?”

The answer is tough, but loving God is not based on your day-today life. Loving God is based on His love for us. “We love because He first loved us.”
(1 John 4:19)

Our circumstances don’t determine our closeness to God. He promises, “surely I am with you ALWAYS, to the very end of the age.”
(Matthew 28:20, emphasis mine)

Don’t let the mundane, level plain of life keep you from experiencing all that God has for you. Stay close to Him. He is close to you.

Your response is everything.
