Self-Hatred
If many of us are honest, we either know someone who struggles with self-hatred or maybe we even deal with it ourselves on a daily basis. There are tons and tons of mediums in culture that are screaming at us what is acceptable and unacceptable, but where does the truth of God come in all of that?
There is a great book by Brennan Manning called “A Glimpse of Jesus” that led me to this thought a few years ago:Self-hatred comes from subconsciously being self-absorbed. What we need is to be more God-absorbed. To spend less time staring at ourselves and more time staring at our God. Doing that will kill self-hatred and massively increase our love for God. When that revolution occurs in us, God is seen as bigger than our “problems” and ourselves.
“For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1, ESV)
Your response is everything.
