Remember
(photo props)
To most, silence is golden. We enjoy quiet and no movement of any kind. However, when it seems that God is silent to us, we panic. Even the psalmist asked countless times, “Why are you silent, oh God; why are you far from me?”.
I believe that God is silent for two reasons. First, the Bible tells us that He draws near to us when we draw near to Him (James 4:8).
I also believe that God chooses to be silent to test our character. (see the book of Job).
It is in this silence that we can look back at the psalmist and learn something:
“Has God forgotten to be gracious?
Has he in anger shut up his compassion?” Selah
Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”
I will remember the deeds of the Lord;
yes, I will remember your wonders of old.
I will ponder all your work,
and meditate on your mighty deeds.
Your way, O God, is holy.
What god is great like our God?
You are the God who works wonders;
you have made known your might among the peoples.
You with your arm redeemed your people,
the children of Jacob and Joseph.”
(Psalm 77:9-15, ESV)
When God is silent, let’s remember all that He has done. Let’s worship Him greater in those moments. He is ALWAYS worthy of our praise.
Your response is everything.
