Psalm 128
All throughout the Bible we are warned about letting fear drive us. We are told that “…perfect love casts out fear”, to “…lay aside each fear”, and to keep “…fear from our hearts”.
But, there is another type of fear which is incredibly beneficial for us, fear of the Lord. Now, the fear of the Lord is a phrase used all through the Bible and it refers to being in awe and giving unrestrained submission to God because of his greatness. This fear is not only allowed, but it is encouraged, even commanded! Listen to the incredible benefits of living in the Fear of the Lord:
Blessed are all who fear the LORD, who walk in his ways. You will eat the fruit of your labor; blessings and prosperity will be yours. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your sons will be like olive shoots round your table. Thus is the man blessed who fears the LORD. – Psalm 128:1-4
