Proverbs 9
Chapter 9 is called “Invitations of Wisdom and of Folly”
10 “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
Here we find what God calls the beginning of wisdom and knowledge. It is the fear of the Lord and knowledge of the Holy One. Not to fear in the sense of being scared, but in the sense of knowing what God is capable of and having reverence for Him. Having a sense of His great power and authority, humbling all of man kind.
13 The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge.
It is interesting to me that both wisdom and folly are depicted as having built their houses and are sitting at the highest point in the city. Both calling out to those who pass by and are willing listen. One giving life, the other taking it away.
This paints the picture of the choices we make as well as the company we keep. As Christians we should be aware that the world is watching us. All eyes are upon us including the eyes of our Lord. Let us not be hasty in our decisions but use discernment in all we do, living just and upright and in truth.
Be the Blessing
