Proverbs 7 – Just Run!
22 He followed her at once, like an ox going to the slaughter. He was like a stag caught in a trap,
23 awaiting the arrow that would pierce its heart. He was like a bird flying into a snare, little knowing it would cost him his life.
24 So listen to me, my sons, and pay attention to my words.
25 Don’t let your hearts stray away toward her. Don’t wander down her wayward path.
26 For she has been the ruin of many; many men have been her victims.
27 Her house is the road to the grave. Her bedroom is the den of death. – Proverbs 7:22-27nlt
“.,.like an ox going to the slaughter…” what a vivid portrayal of us men when our lust gets out of control! Men, you are in the cross-hairs of the enemy. Satan knows that if he can destroy you, he can destroy your marriage, your family, and your potential impact on the Kingdom of God.
We must listen to Solomon’s wise counsel and steer clear of all types of lustful temptations. I am reminded of Joseph’s reaction when Pottiphar’s wife, who was no doubt stunning, when she attempted to seduce him…
And though she spoke to Joseph day after day, he refused to go to bed with her or even to be with her.
One day he went into the house to attend to his duties, and none of the household servants was inside. She caught him by his cloak and said, “Come to bed with me!” But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house. – Genesis 39:10-12
Men, when we are faced with lust, we must run! Don’t reason, argue, or rationalize…JUST RUN!
