Proverbs 31 – Helping The Helpless
Today’s proverb is one I think we can all relate to and some of us may have had a specific experience with it.
Proverbs 31:8-9:
8 Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
ensure justice for those being crushed.
9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice.
ensure justice for those being crushed.
9 Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice.
Sometimes we can get lost in having compassion for other people who are in need of it, even if they are or aren’t as fortunate as we are, and I think verses 8 & 9 really help highlight the importance of speaking up. Regardless of the type of day we’re having, good or bad, if you see someone that isn’t being treated appropriately and your voice is the voice of reason and understanding, then we should be obligated to help speak up. Not for our sake but for somebody else’s and as Christians we should be practicing the act of selflessness. You never know what your voice can do for someone in need of a helping hand and their relationship with Christ from that moment on.
Your voice can make a difference and your response is everything!
