“Pick Me!” Blessing

Remember as a kid when your teacher would offer a unique opportunity for one kid in the class to do something really cool? Like, in science class, “who want’s to be my test dummy” my teacher used to say. Every kid in the room wanted to be picked.Sometimes the picking was completely random, but a lot of the times the teacher would pick the most obedient student in the room as a reward for their goodness.

We talked on Sunday about this very same thing. The reason God picked Ruth to bless so much was because she was obedient to Him. She feared God, worked hard, & did what God asked her to do. For this reason, God blessed big time in her life.

A lot of times we want the blessing without even being in the same room with God. We live our own lives and make huge mistakes we brought on ourselves then wonder why God isn’t blessing us.

You don’t earn God’s blessing, but you do position yourself to be blessed or not. Just like in school, because you were obedient to your teacher, she would pick you to come experience the fun stuff.

“Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” (Luke 6:38)

“Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” (2 Corinthians 9:6)

Put yourself in the path of God’s blessing.

Your response is everything.
