Past: Either Good or Bad

When talking about getting over our past we usually are talking about bad things that have happened to us, and rightfully so.  It is usually the bad things that trip us up and keep us from moving forward.

But, what about your past victories?  Is it possible that you are actually allowing your past successes to hold you back?  Are you possibly sitting back, basking in the glory of the past when you should really be pressing on into the future?

Paul had experience with both past defeats and past greatness.  His response to all of this was very simple:

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12-14

His concise response: I’m haven’t made it, I’m not perfect, I’m choosing to forget the past and strain toward the future!
