Obedience
Psalm 119:4-5 You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees!
Precepts are defined as a commandment or direction given as a rule of action or conduct; injuction with moral conduct; law. God has laid down a clear direction for how we live and He expects obedience from us. I know sometimes we think that if are actions are in accordance with the precepts God has set before us then we are being obedient. However it’s more than an outward obedience. If we are doing things begrudingly, stomping and pitching a fit on the inside then it’s just as big of an issue as if we were behaving that way on the outside.
I hope that your heart is truely desiring to obey God, to have a pure heart. If our one passion and desire is pleasing God then obedience will become something we are striving for an a regular basis. Search your heart and ask yourself “Why am I a Christian?”, “Who do I desire to please most in my life?”, “What are my priorities?” These guestions my help you analyze how your doing with the words David writes here in Psalm 119.
