Matthew 5:14-15 NLT
“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house.

The church needs to be a positive
influence in the political arena.

Be purposefully Praying

1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks
for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives
marked by godliness and dignity.

Be incredibly Informed

Proverbs 29:2,4,12,14

When the godly are in authority, the people rejoice. But when the wicked are in power, they groan. (NLT)
If a king is fair, he makes his country strong, but if he takes gifts dishonestly, he tears his country down. (NCV)
If a ruler pays attention to liars, all his advisers will be wicked. (NLT)
If a king judges the poor fairly, his throne will last forever. (NLT)

“I believe that every Christian citizen who lives in a democracy has at the very least a minimal obligation to be well informed and to vote for candidates and policies that are most consistent with biblical principles. The opportunity to help select the kind of government we will have is a stewardship that God entrusts to citizens in a democracy, a stewardship that we should not neglect or fail to appreciate. That at least means that Christians are responsible to learn enough about the important issues to be able to vote intelligently”

Be intentionally Involved

Jeremiah 29:4-7 CEV

The Lord All-Powerful, the God of Israel, had said:
I had you taken from Jerusalem to Babylonia. Now I tell you to settle there and build houses. Plant gardens
and eat what you grow in them. Get married and have children, then help your sons find wives and help your
daughters find husbands, so they can have children as well. I want your numbers to grow, not to get
smaller. Pray for peace in Babylonia and work hard to make it prosperous. The more successful that nation
is, the better off you will be.
