Leaders who last learn to serve! #MoreOrLess

The 5:

A recap of Dave Crandall’s Message, “Influence” in 5 points or less.

  1. Programs, details, buildings — they don’t change people’s lives. People change people’s lives.
  2. Your mindset and how you look at being a person of influence has to come from asking the question, “how can I serve in this moment?”
  3. An agenda never trumps a person…people matter to God, so they better matter to us.
  4. God has called each of us to be a person of influence.
  5. One of the greatest tools in an influencer’s hand is “the question.” You can’t gain insight if you aren’t listening.

What We Learned:

Our Big Idea today was BE HONEST! Ananias sold his property and gave the money to the church. When he and his wife lied to Peter about keeping some of the money, they fell over dead. Read more about this lesson in Acts 5 in your Bible. This lesson reminds us we should strive to be honest with other people and honest with God. We can’t keep secrets from God, so why try?

In The Car:

Tell your kids about a time when you lied to avoid a consequence and how that really messed things up even worse.  Let them know that no matter what, no matter how far they have taken a lie, it’s always better to tell the truth and come clean. It will never get less painful or less costly than doing it right then, delaying the truth always winds up getting them into more trouble!

At Bedtime:

Pray with your kids thanking God for always telling us the truth through his word, the Bible. Pray that your kids would be convicted when they tell a lie. Pray that as they grow they see the importance of telling the truth in love, and how doing the right thing is always what’s best for them! Read 1 Corinthians 2:9 in your Bibles together!
