Making The Most Of Your Moments!

I remember as a kid hearing this phrase during the Summer time, “As the grains of sand, so are the days of our lives”. It was the tag line to the poorly acted soap opera “Days of Our Lives”. My two older sisters would sneak watching this ridiculous thing whenever they had the chance. The graphic was a simple hourglass with sand rapidly falling from the top portion, through the neck, and piling in a mountain shaped pile at the bottom.

What a perfect picture of how quickly our lives pass us by! It seems like it was just yesterday that both my little girls, now 12 and 10, were born. How easy it is for us to get wrapped up in the details of life and allow the salient, important, essential moments to slip by without notice or fanfare.
I have determined that I will, over the last half of my life, make much of the moments that God has given me. No more allowing the pressing or urgent to dictate my schedule. I am going to take hold of my time and force it to work for me instead of against me.
Now, I promise you that if you make this same decision that some people will not like it. They’ll complain and whine to try in an attempt to convince you and I that their agenda is better or more important than ours. But, we must stand strong. We only have today until it’s gone and then it’s gone forever…make the most of it!!!
So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. – Ephesians 5:15-16
